All about Lucy

Artistic Statment

My name is Lucy, and if you can’t tell by now, I really like juggling. For as long as I can remember, all I have ever wanted to do is play. There aren’t many career paths that align with that particular value system, and so becoming a professional juggler seemed almost inevitable when I look back at my life.

I taught myself to juggle and ride a unicycle in 2007, and my life has never been the same.

I believe there is a sort of magic in circus arts. They can communicate in a single image, a moment burned into memory, more about ourselves and our capacities than words could ever convey.

I have worked as a professional juggler for more than 10 years and in that time I have learned that the magic that circus creates can serve as a spark that ignites the fire of change. I’ve experienced this innumerable times in my own life, and seen the ripples of it extend through my life.

Street performance offers us the opportunity to bring the transformational magic of the circus directly into public spaces and to share our stories with new audiences.

On this page you will find a few samples of my past work, ranging from solo projects to ensemble productions.

I have spent more than a decade providing entertainment in Atlanta and across the country. I’ve performed for The Atlanta Opera, Callaway Gardens, The Atlanta Braves, The Atlanta Beltline, and countless private clients.

The work below represents a small selection of highlights from my most recent projects. I hope you share some of they joy they have brought to my life.

Past Work and Performances

A Performance of Circus, Self and Other; 7 Stages Atlanta

In fall of 2021, I wrote produced and performed a 60-minuet one-woman show with the creative support and guidance of the dramaturgical team at 7 Stages Atlanta. This deeply personal performance was centered around my experience as a transgender woman raised in rural South Georgia and the intersection of circus, self, and identity shaped my life.

Collaborative Creations

I have a deep love for collaborative and ensemble work. I have written, produced, and co-starred in many larger shows over my career. One of my favorite collaborative partners and fellow Atlanta Circus Alliance member, Jim Maltman, and I have created several shows with custom content for our clients.

House of GeminEye

One of the benefits of working in a creative hotspot like Atlanta is the opportunity to collaborate on creative projects with some of the city’s most talented visual artists. The scenes below were styled, staged, and shot by House of GeminEye
